HISTORY AND TRADITION
In 1832, the Philadelphia & Columbia Railway constructed the “Main Line” between Philadelphia and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, giving Philadelphians access to this beautiful area. A sense of history lives on in the area of what is now Bryn Mawr, which was a part of the land charter given to William Penn by King Charles II in 1681, where the early Welsh settlers built homes and thriving businesses, many of which are still standing.
